Alex Walden remains one of the most mysterious figures in international gardening. Very little is known about his his personal life, except that he was born in Sydney and now lives somewhere in England. He became famous for his series of radio broadcasts, entitled Message to the Gardeners of England, which served as the foundation of the empathy gardening movement. This is the only known photo of him. The unfinished bust is by the sculptor Naomi Portland.
